"Sardinia is officially the region identified to host the Einstein Telescope, in the area of the disused mine of SOS Enattos. We immediately and strongly believed in the most important project of scientific and technological impact of international level that could interest our island and our country and today we finally cross an awaited and fundamental goal for the future development of our region. With the presentation of the candidacy by the Government, Sardinia becomes a protagonist in Europe". This was said by the President of the Sardinia Region, Christian Solinas, who this afternoon in Rome, at the headquarters of the Astronomical Observatory of Rome of the National Institute of Astrophysics, INAF, participates in the official presentation of the Italian candidacy for the Einstein Telescope, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

Solinas considers the future large research infrastructure for the detection of gravitational waves a strategic investment for the development of the island, for its technological and scientific repercussions and for the repercussions, primarily of an employment nature, that its realization will generate. "Today is undoubtedly the best response to the great work done in recent years - said Solinas - even more intense and decisive over the last few months, by the Region to complete this ambitious project".

Also present at the meeting were the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, Marina Elvira Calderone, the Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Alfredo Mantovano, as well as Giorgio Parisi. , Nobel Prize in Physics and president of the Technical Scientific Committee for the Italian candidacy for Einstein Telescope, Ettore Sequi, ambassador and head of the Italian delegation in the Board of Governmental Representatives of Einstein Telescope and Antonio Zoccoli, president of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Institute that coordinates the national scientific consortium for the Italian candidacy for the research infrastructure.
