Central Bank budget exceeds AED 594 billion by the end of March to the highest level in its history

The UAE Central Bank's balance sheet exceeded AED 594 billion at the end of March, the highest level in its history, according to the latest Central Bank statistics.

In its March 2023 balance sheet report, the Central Bank said that its balance sheet increased month-on-month by 5.3% to reach AED 594.12 billion at the end of March, compared to AED 564.25 billion in the previous February, an increase equivalent to AED 29.8 billion in a month.

The balance sheet of the Central Bank increased year-on-year by 15.2%, or the equivalent of AED 78.3 billion, compared to about AED 515.79 billion in March 2022, while it increased by about 7.05% since the beginning of this year compared to about AED 554.99 billion at the end of December 2022.

According to statistics, the Central Bank's balance sheet was distributed on the assets side by AED 261.16 billion for cash and bank balances last March, in addition to investments held to maturity of about AED 196.82 billion, AED 107.82 billion for deposits, AED 3.57 billion for loans and advances, and AED 24.75 billion for other assets.

The balance sheet was distributed on the liabilities and capital side by AED 247.14 billion for current and deposit accounts, about AED 195.98 billion for cash bills and Islamic certificates of deposit, AED 129.21 billion for issued notes and coins, AED 14.21 billion for capital and reserves, and AED 7.58 billion for other liabilities.
