Technology companies, including Microsoft, pledged to build more ethical artificial intelligence, during the Second World Forum of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the Kran Convention Center near the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.

Agence France-Presse quoted the Director-General of the organization, Audrey Azoulay, as saying in a statement: “The signing by technology companies of the “Charter for Building More Ethical Artificial Intelligence” is an important step after the adoption of the first global rules for artificial intelligence in more than 50 countries during the month of November 2021.” , stressing that “this alliance is necessary to develop artificial intelligence after obtaining the same tangible commitment from major companies.”

One of the most important provisions of this charter is “to fully assume the role of technology companies in protecting human rights in the design, development, purchase, sale and use of artificial intelligence,” and the companies are committed in practice to establishing “verification procedures to assess risks and correct the negative effects of artificial intelligence within a reasonable period of time.”

These companies, in addition to the American technology giant “Microsoft”, are the “LGA i Research Center” of the South Korean “LG” group, the Chinese “Lenovo” group, in addition to the bank card company “MasterCard”, and the American software group “Salesforce”. And the Spanish telecommunications company “Telefonica”.

A few days ago, member states of the European Union agreed on “legislation to regulate artificial intelligence at the global level, ensuring a balance between freedom of innovation and maintaining security.”
