The Chinese National Space Administration said: The Chinese satellite Xueqiao-2 is scheduled to be launched to relay communications between the far side of the moon and Earth during the first half of this year.

Xinhua news agency quoted the authority as saying today: The satellite will be transported to the Wenchang spacecraft launch site in Hainan Province, south of the country, while pre-launch tests will be conducted as scheduled.

She added: The relevant facilities at the launch site are currently in good condition, while preparatory work is still underway as planned.

Xue Qiao-2 will serve as a relay platform for the fourth phase of China's lunar exploration program, providing communications services for the Chang'e-4, Chang'e-6, Chang'e-7, and Chang'e-8 missions.
