• Videos showing "AI robots" attending an American football game have been circulating on social networks for several days.
  • Some Internet users are worried about a "replacement" close to humans by robots.
  • It is actually a marketing operation for the promotion of a film, and everything leads to think that it is only actors in disguise.

Have humanoid robots to "replace" humans been spotted in a stadium during an American football game in the United States? This is in any case what many publications circulating on the social networks X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok suggest.

On the videos shared, accompanied by comments such as "We are being replaced" or referring to a "great replacement", we can see what look like robots with a very realistic human appearance, on the pitch of a stadium or in stands.

These videos have been posted in publications in several languages, English, French, or Spanish.

FAKE OFF

These "robots" are actually part of a promotional campaign for a film that will be released on September 29, 2023, entitled "The Creator". We can see that the famous robots wear clothes on which this inscription is noted. Similarly, videos showing the robots on a giant screen also show this inscription on the left of the screen.

The Twitter account dedicated to promoting the film itself shared these videos, accompanied by the comment: "The future is here. The AI robots arrived at the game between the Chargers and Dolphins at SoFi Stadium. Discover #TheCreator only in cinemas on September 29th" as well as a link to a ticket sales site for the film.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, who has previously directed big-budget films such as Star Wars episodes, the film will tell the story of a futuristic war between humans and artificial intelligences.

As for the appearance of these humanoids, several clues lead to think that they are only (very) well made up actors. In the close-ups, we distinguish in particular what is similar to a demarcation between the skin of the actors and the makeup.

Their appearances and gait also seem too realistic, compared to the most recent humanoid robot models developed by robotics companies. One of the most successful models in terms of realism of expressions, called "Ameca", and developed by the company Engineered Arts, for example, does not yet have the ability to walk.
