The Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) fined Tik Tok345 million, over the period between 31 July and 31 December 2020, "in relation to the processing of personal data relating to minor users". This is the result of a survey conducted on the famous social network, very popular among young and very young people.

Tik Tok's response was ready: "While respecting the authority of the DPC, we do not agree with the decision, in particular on the amount of the fine. The criticisms raised by the Irish authority focus on some settings and features present in the app three years ago and that we changed well before the start of the investigation, such as the setting of the profiles of users under 16 private by default.
