The Lexus LBX is an all-new hybrid crossover – of course – that takes the brand into new territory. Because under this body (whose design is in our opinion a little shy, especially compared to the generally extroverted habit of Lexus), hides the technical basis of a... Toyota Yaris Cross. With a length of 4.19 m, the LBX is 30 cm shorter than the Lexus UX, which was until then the most compact Lexus had produced. So here is that the manufacturer is embarking on the urban crossover, even as Audi is preparing to leave it, since the Q2 will not be replaced.

Judging by the images, the cabin will indeed be worthy of Lexus, with leather trim up to the dashboard, a beautiful multimedia screen of nearly 10 inches, and a Mark Levinson audio system with 13 speakers. There is also no reason to doubt that the quality of finish will be as impeccable as in other products of the brand.

Finally, the mechanics are, as we said, identical to those of the Yaris Cross. There will therefore be a 1.5-liter petrol engine, coupled to two or three electric motors depending on whether you opt for a 2 or 4-wheel drive version. But in order not to fool high-end customers, the system will develop here 137 hp and 185 Nm, 20 hp and 65 Nm more than in the Yaris. Launch expected before the end of the year.
