We can really only love Mazda for the way it does nothing like the others. After launching a brand new 6-cylinder diesel completely against the current, and after equipping its MX-30 electric crossover with a Wankel engine as a range extender, it is once again this singular engine that could create the sensation. It is indeed the central figure of a hybrid system that has just been patented.

This system is special in many ways. The Wankel engine combined with a 36 hp electric motor in its extension to drive the rear wheels, it's quite classic. The fact that there are two other 23 hp electric motors directly mounted in the front wheels is rarer, and it is rather a characteristic of electric hypercar to the Rimac.

Another peculiarity, Mazda uses not one, but four small batteries ideally distributed in the structure. These modest 48 V batteries work independently under normal conditions, but can synchronize under heavy load, and switch to 96 V. Do without high-voltage wiring to promote weight.

What can we deduce from this? A car mainly driven by the rear wheels, equipped with engine in the front wheels? We see a sportswoman. A special attention paid to weight, and very, very reasonable electrical powers? Could this be the architecture of an upcoming MX-5?
