About Volkswagen's new Toireg, we will first notice the redesigned front end, which serves as a "pretext" for the adoption of all-new Matrix LED smart headlights. Each lighthouse contains 38,000 (!) LEDs, which provides an exceptional selective lighting capability. At the rear, the optical blocks are also redesigned, and are now united by an LED strip, which illuminate the VW logo. If the dashboard is apparently unchanged, the novelty is that the digital dashboard and the Discover Pro Max multimedia system are now standard across the range. Voice recognition has been improved, and the overall finish is more premium than ever.

Driving aids

As we said, the update is mainly technological. The Volkswagen Touareg receives the semi-autonomous driving systems Travel Assist, the trailer manoeuvring assist, the remote parking system, and we especially remember a roof load sensor, which offers additional data to the stability control. Under the hood, there is only V6: petrol 335 hp, diesel 228 or 282 hp, and two plug-in versions of 386 or 456 hp. VW does not yet give information about the electric range of these hybrid versions that use a battery of 14.1 kWh. Belgian prices are not yet known, but in Germany, the updated VW Touareg starts at €69,200.
