After the Arkana SUV coupe, the 5-seater Austral SUV (2 real commercial boxes!), and the large Espace SUV, the new Renault Rafale must position itself as the flagship of the Renault range.

Aeronautical inspiration

We have to go back to the early twentieth century to understand what links Renault to aviation. At that time, Renault was a pioneer in the development of internal combustion engines for cars, but also for trains (railcars) and planes. In 1933, Renault bought the manufacturer Caudron to create the Caudron-Renault company.

All aircraft took the name of a wind and this is how the C460, a single-seat racing aircraft designed for records, became Rafale in 1934. Today, Renault is reconnecting with its history by relying on the strengths of the Caudron Rafale to embody the brand's top-of-the-range range.

The Renault Rafale shares its technical base with the Austral and Espace. It will therefore take over a hybrid E-Tech engine. The technical details will certainly be announced at its world premiere at the 54th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget on June 18.
