The engineer, who specializes in researching new features of social networks and applications, has, through a screenshot, shown the change. A new section called "Audience" now appears on the window where you want to publish a photo or video. If the user clicks on it, they can select the "close friends" option. This feature was already offered by Instagram for stories.

A new source of income for Instagram?

This option allows the instagramer to reserve the content he intends to share to only some of his followers. The novelty could also interest influencers and creators. It would thus be a way to monetize content reserved for a community that would have paid a subscription to access it. A proposal already made on the social network Twitter.

Instagram, somewhat neglected since the arrival of TikTok, could thus increase its revenue. The strategy would thus complete the implementation of a paid certification, up to 16 euros per month. But for the moment, the social network has not yet communicated officially on the subject. Will the option be restricted to a certain number of users or open to all? There is still doubt.
