A cheerful 8000 racing cyclists made Frankfurt the cycling capital last long weekend. The crowd of amateur riders, who outnumbered the professional races that attracted some attention, enjoyed the Main metropolis and the Taunus, tortured their way up the stitch in Mammolshain and drank Siegeräppler in the lukewarm spring sun at the Alte Oper. The record number of participants proves that people appreciate the bike, at least in good weather, and enjoy their regained freedom to the fullest. Uh no, there are also full trains in Frankfurt, or none at all, whether tunnel closure or not, confidence in the reliability of buses and trains can be expanded as much as the question: What kind of infrastructure would you like to have?

With artificial bottlenecks, traffic planners paralyze roads, at least for cars, in Frankfurt on Grüneburgweg and Oeder Weg, in Berlin's Friedrichstraße and certainly in other places to marvel at. Monday was Labor Day, so it was free, so the office week started on Tuesday, and on that it looked like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Traffic jams and slow-moving traffic on the commuting feeder roads into the city in the morning and out in the evening, tangles at the bottlenecks, and without any last generation, which just had little gluing time because, as an almost democratically legitimized representative of the people, it was invited by the Federal Minister of Transport Wissing to exchange ideas. The conversation had been constructive and extremely productive, the activists let it be known afterwards why they wanted to continue with their protests.

In a traffic jam, you can think about such logic in peace, also about whether all those who stand in front of you, next to you and behind you are actually loitering here for the fun of it. Or may be dependent on their car because it takes them to work, to school and university, to relatives, to a meeting. Because there is no bus at the right time, no train, the shopping is too heavy, the distance is too far for walking and cycling, the disposable scooter is too thrown away, or because it is simply a nice achievement to have a choice. On the radio, before the news, there is an advertisement for the 49-euro ticket of the railway, you should get it quickly via the homepage. In the news, the spokeswoman says that the homepage of the railway has collapsed, with a rush on the 49-euro ticket probably no one expected. When will the air taxis actually be ready for use? It is high time for a new mode of transport.
