Already launched in petrol version from 300 to 530 hp, the excellent Maserati Grecale was also announced from the start in a 100% electric version, named Folgore (thunderclap, in Italian). The Trident brand has just unveiled it at the Shanghai Motor Show, and has announced its commercial launch for this year again. This SUV, which rivals both the Porsche Macan and Cayenne, would therefore take a step ahead, since the electric Macan is announced only for 2024.

Giorgio

Interestingly, the Folgore Grecale is based on an adapted version of the Giorgio platform. The latter had been created for the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio, and was not designed for electrification at all. We are therefore curious to know how the engineers proceeded for the conversion, what remains of the wonderful dynamics of this reference platform, and whether other Stellantis models will benefit from it. In any case, the technical sheet is interesting. The Maserati Grecale Folgore announces more than 500 hp and 800 Nm, a 105 kWh battery, and a 400V architecture for fairly fast charging. We will probably know more in the coming months and weeks.
