Even if we already knew a lot about it by gathering all the little details already published, we can finally see the new ID.7 in all its glory, and talk about it more broadly. First thing to (re-)say, we can only rejoice that VW's new electric model is a – large – sedan, and not yet another crossover. First because it changes, and especially because it makes so much more sense in terms of energy. And you will see that this is not an understatement.



Up to 700 km

Indeed, this is the most aerodynamic model of the ID family, which is already an asset. Second asset, the ID.7 inaugurates a brand new electric motor developed by VW (286 hp), which is announced as one of the most economical on the market. We put it all together, and we learn that with the 77 kWh battery, this large 4.96 m sedan will theoretically be able to travel 615 km, which is much more than the ID.4 and ID.5 with the same battery. As an option, there will also be an 86 kWh battery, bringing the range to 700 km. To go that far, the Mercedes EQS and Lucid Air (much more expensive models) need a battery of some 100 kWh.



For the rest, we learn that the VW ID.7 can be equipped with intelligent systems that will optimize energy expenditure (air conditioning, "concealable" glass roof), that the interior space is necessarily royal, that the finish is significantly more neat than in other ID models and that the model will be declined ... in station wagon! It remains to know the prices, which we imagine rather solid given all that the car offers.
