ChatGPT struck again. Launched in November 2022, the chatbot of the company OpenAI recently allowed a British student to escape a ticket for bad parking, reports the BBC relayed by Capital.

The 22-year-old, who lives and studies in York (United Kingdom), has indeed received a PV for parking her car on the street where she lives, while she is allowed to park there. Initially tempted to pay the £60 she was asked to pay, the student finally decided to contest the fine.

A fine cancelled

She did not write the protest letter herself but asked ChatGPT to write it for her. For this, the student gave the artificial intelligence all the necessary elements: the place, date and time of the ticket, the reference of the fine and why she felt she had been wrongly ticketed.

ChatGPT "came back with a perfectly formulated personalized response in a few minutes", according to the young British, interviewed by the BBC. And the ticket has been canceled by the authorities. While this is not the first time ChatGPT has been relevant and useful, its founder recently pointed out that it can sometimes "write plausible, incorrect or absurd answers".
