Users of the Chinese social network TikTok are struggling this Thursday. The application has indeed experienced a global outage since this morning. As a result, videos on the stream play very randomly and "Can't play video" notifications pile up.

The Downdetector website, which lists the failures of applications and websites, reports a peak of reported outages for the application in France since 10:45 this morning, with nearly 2,500 reports at 11:20. The same peak can be seen in the United States, or in the United Kingdom. Since 11:30 a.m., however, the reporting trend has been decreasing in these three countries, although this does not necessarily mean that the service is restored for all users.

A hashtag on Twitter
These reports were accompanied by numerous alert messages from Internet users posted on social networks. On Twitter, the hashtag #tiktokdown had generated more than 12,30 tweets in France at 2:300 p.m. For now, TikTok has not yet communicated on this outage. We therefore do not know its origin or when it could be resolved.
In any case, this is not the first time that TikTok has experienced a massive outage. Server problems had occurred in July 2021, or in September 2021. Each time, users had the reflex to fall back on Twitter. These difficulties in playing videos should not help the affairs of the social network, currently in turmoil after being accused of spying on certain countries on behalf of China. It could be banned in the United States.
