Mocking Mohamed Salah after Côte d'Ivoire won the African Cup of Nations
Egyptian national team captain and Liverpool's top scorer, Mohamed Salah, was subjected to ridicule by players in the Côte d'Ivoire national team after winning the African Cup of Nations title, which was recently crowned, without a convincing reason or a common position between the players and the Egyptian star.
The Côte d'Ivoire national team won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations title at the expense of the Nigeria national team, with a score of 2-1, in the match that brought them together at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
On the other hand, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah lost a new opportunity to try to win any international title in his career with the Egyptian national team, as he left the African Nations with the Egyptian national team in the round of 16, and he only participated in two matches against Mozambique in the first round, and he suffered an injury against Ghana in the first half.
After Côte d'Ivoire won the title, Serge Aurier and Nicolas Pepe mocked Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, sending a message to the player who was with his team in the English Premier League.
Côte d'Ivoire player Serge Aurier said, in a live broadcast on Nicolas Pepe's account, via Instagram, and was reported by the Egyptian "Botalat" website, directing his speech to Mohamed Salah, “Salah! This is my medal, where is yours?”, to which Nicolas Pepe responded, pointing the camera at him, and saying: “You don’t even have one, and you won’t get one.”
Mohamed Salah had participated with the Egyptian national team in the African Cup of Nations 3 times before this tournament. He lost the final in the 2017 and 2021 editions, and was eliminated in the round of 16 with the Pharaohs in 2019.
