Details of Hazard receiving an astronomical offer to play in the Saudi league. Choose to retire
Eden Hazard's Chelsea team-mate and Nigerian star Obi Mikel has revealed the offers the Belgian star received following his exit from the "royal" castle Santiago Bernabeu.
Mikel said on Rio Ferdinand's "Vibe with Five" YouTube show that his former Chelsea team-mate had turned down a fanciful offer to play in the Saudi league.
The Blues star added that Hazard preferred to retire to play in Saudi Arabia, noting that he did not think a single day about playing for money.
Obi Mikel said the Real Madrid winger had been offered a £50m contract to play in Saudi Arabia before opting to retire.
The Belgian coach's career was interrupted after leaving Chelsea in 2019, where he suffered several years of injury with Real Madrid that affected his technical and physical level.
"Hazard decided to retire, but before doing so he had to consider a fantasy offer from the Saudi league, where he received three offers from three giant clubs in Saudi Arabia."
Speaking of Hazard, Obi said: "Mikel, I have a lot of money. You know how to live my life. I don't spend a lot of money, so I have money now to live with my family and raise my children."
Obi Mikel said Hazard had revealed to him that he had received an offer during which he would have been paid a million pounds a week in addition to incentives and additions.
