Source in the "African Union": Egypt's demand for the presence of "var" qualifiers World Cup "impossible"

A source within the CAF Referees Committee revealed the committee's position on the demand of Portuguese Rui Vitoria, coach of the Egyptian national team, for the need for video technology "VAR", in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The Egyptian newspaper "Al-Watan" quoted the source as saying in response to Vitoria: "It is impossible to use video technology in the rest of the World Cup qualifying matches, it requires things that are not available in many participating countries."

The source added: "It is difficult to change the stadiums that have been officially approved, and given the Asian qualifiers, despite the great potential in some Gulf countries, Australia, Japan and Korea, the mouse is not used also because of the lack of its capabilities in some countries."

The source concluded: "We see it difficult for some countries, and then everyone has to accept because mistakes will be on all participating teams."

The Egyptian national team leads its group in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup with a full mark by winning the two matches against Djibouti with six clean goals and at the expense of Sierra Leone with two goals without reply.
