Striker Harry Kane could give FC Bayern Munich a record off the pitch. The jersey of the England national team captain, who was signed before the season, remains a big sales hit for the German football record champions. According to "Kicker", FC Bayern ultimately suspects more than 100,000 Kane jerseys sold. This would make the 30-year-old the first professional at the serial champion to reach this number in a season.
"Never before have so many people visited our social media channels as on the day of his arrival. We are very pleased that he is now wearing our shirt: Harry Kane, a sports star and gentleman who is good for FC Bayern, and we want to help him add a few more titles to his career," CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said recently at the Annual General Meeting. On the weekend of the Englishman's contract alone, about 20,000 jerseys of Harry Kane alone were sold.
With the transfer of the Englishman, they went "a bit all-in", but it was worth it. But "100 million transfers are not the new agenda," Dreesen had said. With 17 goals in eleven games, Kane has set a record. According to "Kicker", FC Bayern expects Kane to break the record of a jersey sold in a season by Christmas. The number is said to be close to the 100,000 mark.
In the 2022/23 financial year, revenue from merchandising amounted to 110.2 million euros. The income from the Kane jerseys is not included and will only be booked for the 2023/24 season. Kane is currently away with England's national team. In the 2-0 win over Malta, the Bayern star scored his eighth goal in European Championship qualifying. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku have scored more often.
