Dubai wins France with European Skydiving Cup

France won the title of the European Skydiving Championship, which concluded in Dubai, the day before yesterday, after achieving first place with 46 cm, after an exciting competition with the German team, which came second with 47 cm, then the Swiss team «Seism 1» ranked third with 53 cm, while the Italian team came fourth with 56 cm, then the Italian team «Seism 1» fifth with 60 cm.

The Czech Republic won first place in the women's competition with 114 cm, Switzerland came second with 136 cm, Austria third with 163 cm, Bulgaria came fourth with 171 cm, and France fifth with 249 cm.

In the men's singles competition, Germany's Steven Winser took first place with 381 points, Czech Hanek Tabor came in second place with 207 points, Italy's Fabrez Mangia came third with 184 points, compatriot Peter Francisco fourth with 177 points, and Frenchman Peter Balta fifth with 176 points.

Swiss Christina Franz was crowned the women's singles title with 366 points, followed by German Tatanya Gustak with 314 points in second place, then French Lycody Oliver third with the same balance of 314 points, Swiss Erika Franz came in fourth place with 279 points, then Austrian Julia Schusser fifth with 232 points.

The closing ceremony and crowning of the winners took place at the Address Beach Hotel in Jumeirah, where the President of the International Military Sports Federation (SEISM) of Brazil, Nilton Gomes, crowned the winners, in the presence of the Vice President of the Air Sports Federation Yousef Al Hammadi, the Secretary General of the Federation Mohammed Yousef, members of the Board of Directors Yousef Al Shehhi and Abdullah Murad and officials of the participating teams.

Nilton Gomez praised the organisational aspect of Dubai for the success of this tournament, and the capabilities and facilities provided by the country to the participants and guests who came to follow the tournament.

For his part, Yousuf Al Hammadi stressed that the praise received by the UAE Air Sports Federation from the President of the International Military Sports Federation, and from the participating delegations, is an affirmation of the great support we receive from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, for his support for sports in general and air sports in particular.

He said in a press statement: «His Highness is the first supporter of air sports, and we thank Nasr Al-Neyadi, President of the Federation for his efforts to make the event a success».
