Abu Dhabi Sports Council reviews 2024 financial budget

The Abu Dhabi Sports Board of Directors held its regular meeting yesterday to discuss business developments and plans to develop the sports sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to continue to provide initiatives and programs that support the success of the sports system at the local and global levels.

Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Vice Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, chaired the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in the presence of members Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Saif Al Qubaisi, Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, in addition to Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector, Ahmed Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Strategic Planning Sector, Noura Al Menhali, Director of Institutional Development and Quality Department, and Hamda Al Mansouri, Director of Strategic Planning and Performance Department.

A press release stated that «the Board of Directors reviewed the general financial budget for the coming year 2024, which reflects the strong performance of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and its impact on the sports sector, with the aim of achieving the interest of the citizen, supporting the sports sector and athletes, and ensuring the provision of the best services to residents and visitors alike, and the extent of interest in developing infrastructure to keep pace with the requirements of the next stage and to achieve the great development ambitions of the emirate».

They also reviewed the strategic and operational performance report for the first half of 2023, the performance indicators report, in addition to the priorities of the projects for the next year 2024, and various statistics and studies related to sports activity in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Board of Directors stressed the importance of continuing to organize community events periodically, increasing the number of participants, encouraging all segments of society to practice sports activities, improving the level of physical fitness, preventing diseases, making sport a pattern of daily life, and creating a sports environment that contributes to raising awareness of the importance of sports, noting that the number of participants in community events and sports during the first half of this year reached approximately 124,<> participants.

The meeting also recommended increasing the activation of partnership with the Department of Municipalities and Transport with the objectives of community service, and improving the quality of life of individuals.
