THE ESSENTIALS

  • Continuation and end of the quarterfinals this Wednesday at Roland-Garros.
  • On the women's side, Ons Jabeur opens the day on the Central against the Brazilian Haddad Maia, who made history in the previous round with her victory in 3:51 against the Spaniard Sorribes Tormo.
  • This will be followed by the remake of last year's final, a tantalizing poster between the two most bankable players of the moment on the women's circuit, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff.
  • For once scheduled in the afternoon, Alexander Zverev will then try to find the last square, a year after his serious injury at this stage against Rafa Nadal. He faces Argentina's Tomas Etcheverry, the surprise guest of these quarters.
  • Finally, the evening session will oppose Holger Rune to Casper Ruud, who had chewed last year in their quarter-final (and especially after in the locker room).

09:00: "Take a seat, please"

Another great day of tennis this Wednesday at Roland, with the end of the quarterfinals. A day in the form of a reunion, between Swiatek and Gauff first, who had faced each other in the final last year. The Pole had given her young opponent a lesson that she still remembers (6-1, 6-3 in 1:08). Holger Rune and Casper Ruud also reunion, whose quarter-final last year ended with an icy handshake and a trash-talking session in the locker room. Yum. Note that exceptionally today, Zverev will not play in the evening but in the middle of the afternoon. Watch out for the Sasha heat stroke.
