The second round of the Republic Cup men's basketball championship witnessed an exciting victory for Al-Jaish team over Al-Karama by only one point and 83-82 points during the meeting that brought the two teams together at Al-Fayhaa Sports City Hall in Damascus.
The result of the first and second quarters came in favor of Al-Karama by 22-19 points and 20-13 points, while Al-Jaish was able to settle the result of the third quarter in its favor by 24-17 points, and after an exciting performance from the two teams, Al-Karama team relied on shots from beyond the arc to reduce the difference, but the army's remarkable performance, while relying on capable defense, settled the fourth quarter in its favor by 27-23 points to end the match with a difference of one point.
In the second match, Al-Ahli Aleppo team beat Al-Jalaa 74-69 points after an exciting match amid a large presence of the public, and Al-Ahli advanced in the first quarter by 23-16 points, and the result of the second and third quarters came in favor of Al-Jalaa by 20-17 points and 15-18 points, while Al-Ahli decided the last quarter in its favor by 19-15 points and winning the match by 5 points.
Tomorrow will meet the waterwheels with the army and unity with the Union Ahli Aleppo on the land of the city of Fayhaa Sports in Damascus.
The tournament system stipulates that single-round teams play in the assembly system in the city of Damascus, and the first and second place teams from each group qualify for the semi-finals, then the first place from the first group meets the second-placed team from the second group, and the second-placed team from the first group with the first place holder from the second group, and the two winners qualify for the final match.
