The Iraqi national football team will play a friendly match against its Colombian counterpart on the sixteenth of next June in Spain, as part of a training camp led by its Spanish coach Jesus Casas. The Iraqi Federation said through its media channel that "the national team will start a training camp in Spain for the period from 12 to 20 of next June and will play a friendly match against the Colombia team on the 16th of the same month in the city of Valencia."

The Iraqi Federation pointed out that "the coach of the national team, Casas, decided to call up a list of only 25 players to participate in the Spain camp and play a friendly Colombia."
The technical staff of the Iraqi national team will announce on the second of June the list of players invited to go to Spain.

The Iraqi Federation continues to complete the official and legal procedures for a number of expatriate players who are of Iraqi origin, to allow them to represent the Al-Rafidain Lions team, the latest of which is the Swedish Jönköping striker Bashank Abdullah. The Iraqi federation said Abdullah, 28, who performed well in the Swedish First Division competitions, "is ready to represent the national team after the expatriate committee completed all official papers and issued a passport for him."
