Norwegian international Erling Haaland has been crowned Premier League Player of the Year this season, after impressing for Manchester City.

The Premier League noted that Haaland won the award after public vote, the leaders of the 20 clubs in the league and a panel of football experts were combined, beating seven other candidates, namely team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, compatriot Martin Odegaard, Arsenal's Saka, Newcastle's Kieran Trippier, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, as well as Tottenham's top scorer Harry Kane.

The 22-year-old Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund before the start of the season, is the first in the history of the English league to score a hat-trick in 3 consecutive games at home, as well as the first hat-trick in the history of the Manchester derby since 1970.
