Lee Sang-so Cho faced the defending champions Karlsson-Falk of Sweden in a "strength vs. strength" match.

After a strong back-drive rally, they took the first game, then shook their opponents with quick attacks to win the second game with ease.

Their defense faltered, they conceded the third game and the fourth game was also on the brink of crisis as they trailed 4-6, but they changed the tone with a bold head-to-head match.

Both players took turns hitting backhand and forehand drives to win the game by five points and eventually win the game 3-5.

The two athletes who finished in the top four and secured at least a bronze medal will face China's world number one group for a place in the final.

[Cho Dae-sung: First of all, I'm happy because it's my first medal in the quarter-finals, but I think we have to prepare well and win against China in the quarterfinals tomorrow.]

Last year's silver medalists, Jang Woo-jin and Lim Jong-hoon, also defeated the Hungarian team to advance to the semifinals.

Korea secured three medals in the men's and women's doubles, including Shin Yubin-Jeon Jeon-hee, who finished in the top four in the women's doubles, to book their best result in 4 years.
