The eighteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2023, Oderzo-Val di Zoldo of 161 kilometers, is won by Filippo Zana adjusting Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) in the sprint.

The two athletes were protagonists of a head-to-head in the last kilometer and a half of climb before the finish line.

Stage characterized by the close duel between Primož Roglič and Geraint Thomas author of a great test on today's climbs.

Tomorrow the nineteenth fraction, the Longarone-Tre Cime di Lavaredo of 183 kilometers.

What happened in the stage

After just forty minutes from the start, a group of six cyclists broke away from the group Aurelien Paret-Peintre (AG2R), Marco Frigo and Derek Gee (Israel – Premier Tech), Warren Barguil (Arkea), Filippo Zana (Team Jayco AlUla) and Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ).

The treads led a very long escape on the steep climbs of the stage reaching an advantage of over 5 minutes.

At the flying finish line of Forno di Zoldo Pinot had passed in first position

At the last GPM the treads the fugitives still had an advantage of more than 4 minutes
