Brazilian media reported that Al Wasl has entered into negotiations with Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira to take over the coaching of the 'emperor' next season.

The newspaper «Mundo Robro Negro» that the coach, who is not linked to a contract with any team since last January, is close to returning to work again, after receiving an offer to train Al Wasl starting from the new season.

The 54-year-old was a candidate to take over as São Paulo coach before the club decided to sign Brazilian coach Dorival Junior. Vitor Pereira has a strong resume, as he began his coaching career as an assistant coach in Porto, before taking over the same team in 2011, then moved to Saudi Arabia's Al-Ahli, and led Greek clubs Olympiacos, Munich 1860, Shanghai of China, Fenerbahçe of Turkey, Corinthians and Flamengo in Brazil, while he is distinguished by achieving the league title in three countries: Portugal, Greece and China.

The Portuguese coach has won eight titles in his career, namely the Portuguese league champion twice, the Super Cup twice with Porto, the Greek league champion with Olympiacos, the Greek Cup champion with the same team, the Chinese league title, and the Super Cup with Shanghai.

It is noteworthy that Al Wasl decided not to extend the contract of Argentine coach Juan Antonio Pizzi, who led the team in the current season, as the 'emperor' achieved fourth place in the league, while he was knocked out of the semi-finals of the President's Cup, and the first round of the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup.
