Champions League final referee revealed between Manchester City and Inter

Polish referee Szymon Marchiniak will officiate the Champions League final, scheduled between Manchester City and Inter on June 10 at Istanbul's Ataturk Stadium, UEFA announced Monday.
Marchiniak, 42, has overseen eight matches in the continental competition this season, including the semi-final second leg between City and Real Madrid.
Marchiniak officiated the final of the last World Cup in Qatar between Argentina, who were crowned champions at the expense of France on penalties.
Marchiniak began his refereeing career at the age of 8 as an amateur match referee, before turning professional in 21. In 2006 he was awarded the refereeing badge in the Polish First Division and was certified as an international referee in 2009.
Since 2011, Marchiniak has been one of the referees of European Club Championships and European World Cup qualifiers, and in 2014 he officiated his first World Cup match, and in the same year he officiated the European Super Cup match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
His career took a big turn after suffering from health problems. "The last year and a half has been very difficult for me," he said before the World Cup final. I suffered from an irregular heartbeat. It was difficult at first, and I had to stop refereeing. I missed the European Cup, which is disastrous for a referee in his prime. Only my team and I know how difficult this is for me. Now life is smiling at me again and I can't stop smiling because it's a great feeling."
He recounted his beginnings as a player in his hometown of Visla Blok and decided to move to refereeing after a conversation with a referee who sent him off: "We spoke after the game and he told me an important sentence: If you think this is easy, try for yourself. You will see. I thought to myself, "Why not?" I immediately went to take the lessons and started arbitration. I'm grateful to him, because without that red card, I wouldn't have been an arbiter in my life."
