With the participation of five hundred male and female players from nineteen countries, the player of the Syrian karate team, Wissam Abu Mahmoud, won the bronze medal in the Mediterranean Championship currently being held in Tunisia.

Abou Mahmoud's bronze came in the U-18 category for the -75 kg category, after defeating the Algerian champions 9-3, and the Greek champions 3-4, and lost in the group championship to the French champions 5-5, and settled the last match with the Cyprus champions 1-<>, to win the bronze medal.

The President of the Game Federation, Jihad Mia, explained that this medal is an important achievement for Syrian sports because it has not been achieved for about 30 years, especially with the presence of world champions from Europe, Africa and Asia, noting at the same time the support of the Executive Office of the General Sports Federation for all games, including karate.

In a similar statement, the President of the Mediterranean Federation, Bashir Al-Sharif, praised the performance of the Syrian national team technically and disciplinedly, indicating that Syria returned strongly with the game of karate on the Mediterranean scene, especially after obtaining a seat in the Mediterranean Union after the victory of the President of the Syrian Federation, Jihad Mia, as a member of the Federation.

It is noteworthy that the delegation of our team participating in the tournament includes Jihad Mia as president, Suhail Salman as coach, and players Kholoud Ali, Wissam Abu Mahmoud, Samir Qabbani, Khaled Darwish, Rayan Nasr and Khader Jamil Youssef.
