All easy for Daniil Medvedev yesterday in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open, beating the surprise Hanfmann in two sets 6-2, 6-2. The Russian is not on a great day at the service, but builds the match with a great backhand that leaves no way out for the opponent. Haanfmann could not find continuity in batting and suffered the rhythm of the Russian. Medvedev in the press conference emphasizes his state of form and how he feels playing on clay: "I remember sitting here before the tournament and saying how good I felt in training. I'm happy to have been able to make sure that it was like this again today on the pitch because matches and training are two different stories. I didn't change things in training, but maybe finally this year the work done for the preparation on clay worked, even if we didn't have much time before Monte Carlo."

In the semifinals now for Medvedev there will be Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beats Coric with a clear 6-3, 6-4 thanks, as often happens, to a lethal serve. Medvedev said about his next opponent: "Rune and Ruud like to play on clay, as does Tsitsipas, who, in recent years, has now ranked in the top three, four players on red. I don't consider myself the favourite at all, but I'm playing very well here, I feel good. If I can play just as well in the semi-finals, I'm sure I'll give my opponent a hard time. That's what I want to do. I hope I can go on and win two more matches."

Stefanos Tsitsipas also rejoices that in the last quarterfinal match he beat the Croatian Borna Coric with the score of 6-3 6-4, in a challenge played for a long time at the highest levels. The Greek was very precise in the important moments of the match, making practically nothing mistakes, only eight unforced errors, and above all he had enormous help from the first serve, with which he totaled a 26/29. Coric conceded on serve, 20/31 with the first, 12/26 with the second, and yielded on three occasions on the four break balls conceded.
