Rafael Nadal on the ground. The Spaniard with fourteen record trophies at Roland-Garros, injured and off circuit for four months, announced this Thursday his forfeit at the Parisian Grand Slam, his beloved playground, ten days before his kick-off.

"Rafa" had given an appointment to the press, at 16 p.m., to communicate "his decision to participate or not in Roland-Garros, as well as the reasons for his choice, whatever it is," according to a statement sent Wednesday in the early evening. Rafael Nadal has been hampered this season by a hip injury sustained at the Australian Open in January.
