The sixth edition of the Sharjah International Masters, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, kicks off today and lasts for a week with the participation of world champions and title holders, led by national team star Salem Abdulrahman to compete for the tournament prizes worth $ 60,<>.

Also ahead of the international ranking are Iranian Grand International Professor Parham Maksudlo (2734), Great Indian International Professor Gokesh (2732), Indian Grand International Professor Videt Santosh (2731), Chinese Grand International Professor Yu Yangji (2729), International Professor Sagilyov Sinan (2712), Great American International Professor Niman Hans (2708), Great American International Professor Robson Rae (2704), and Great Indian International Professor Arjun Regisky (2701).

In conjunction with the Sharjah Masters Championship, this year, the Challenge Championship will be held, in which 66 international players will participate with the aim of developing the international classification and increasing the friction and experience of national players, as well as organizing for the first time the first Future Chess Championship with the participation of 72 players.

The Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, Omran Abdullah, said in a press statement: «The current version of the Sharjah Masters Championship is considered the strongest because it brings together the best senior international masters, international players and title holders from around the world, and the classification rate of the tournament this year is 2619 points, making it the highest evaluation at the level of all organized tournaments in the world throughout the history of international open chess tournaments and relative to the number of participating players».
