The Higher Organising Committee of the 32nd edition of the Al Gaffal Long-Distance Race, dedicated to local 60ft sailing ships, has begun its preparations for the success of the large marine sports heritage event, by developing a general work plan for the committee and the supporting committees in preparation for the expected launch.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the mega event will be organised by the Dubai International Marine Club from 26 to 28 June, starting from Sir Bu Nair Island deep in the Arabian Gulf, passing through Moon Island to the finish line on the beaches of Dubai.

The Dubai International Marine Club announced the formation of the Higher Organizing Committee for the race, headed by the club's Chairman Ahmed bin Mishar, and the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the club as Vice President Saif Al Suwaidi, and the membership of: Rashid Al Muhairi and Ali Saeed, members of the Board of Directors, Mohammed Al Falahi, Executive Director, and Mohammed Fadl Al Saadi as rapporteur.

The Supreme Organizing Committee held a general coordination meeting with success partners from representatives of government departments and bodies and national institutions that support and contribute to the organization of the race in order to identify organizational matters

All and discuss logistical and technical requirements and know the number of personnel, crews and marine pieces.

The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Hareb, a member of the Higher Organizing Committee of the race, in the presence of directors of departments in the club, representatives of government departments and bodies and national institutions, foremost of which is the Dubai Police General Headquarters represented by the General Directorate of the Ports Police Station, the General Directorate of Sharjah Police, the Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority (Fourth Squadron Command), Dubai Media Incorporated, Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, as well as representatives of media institutions.

The preparatory meeting discussed all matters related to the date of the race after its approval by His Highness the sponsor of the event and the expected conditions and state of the sea, which is of paramount importance for the security and safety of the participants, and the attendees were briefed on the route and itinerary of the race, which is more than 50 nautical miles and how to ensure that the club's convoy and the first participants reach Sir Bu Nair Island before the race and then move on the way to the finish line.

The Supreme Organising Committee listened to the requirements of the working crews of representatives of departments and bodies, where everyone will work as one hand for the success of the event, which will bring together about 3000,<> people who will gather at the starting place off Sir Bu Nair Island to embody the epic of the past on the journey back from the diving season for their parents and grandparents, whose lives were linked to the sea, the source of goodness and abundant livelihood.
