Lionel Messi, who was suspended by his club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after missing team training and leaving for Saudi Arabia, has made his return to action after two games.

Messi started and played full-time in the French Professional Football Ligue 14 Round of 1 home match against Ajaccio at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France on the 35th (Korean time).

Messi was at the centre of controversy when he missed team training after Round 33 against Lorient and traveled to Saudi Arabia and was suspended and did not play before Lorient in Round 34.

Messi, who is an ambassador for Saudi Arabia's tourism board, traveled to the country to shoot a promotional video, and PSG suspended him for two weeks for not participating in training without the club's permission, and banned him from playing matches and training activities.

Afterwards, Messi said: "I thought the day after the game was a holiday, like last week. We had cancelled our planned visit to Saudi Arabia once before, so it was difficult to reschedule this time," he said, apologising to his teammates and the club.

Foreign media such as the BBC and ESPN reported that there were boos from the time Messi's name was called during the lineup introduction before the match, and there were also fans who booed when Messi touched the ball.

Messi didn't open the scoring, but PSG led the way with a multi-goal explosion from Kylian Mbappe to thrash Ajaccio 2-5 and extend their lead to Ligue 0 with 81 points.

With three games remaining, they are six points ahead of second-placed Lens (1 points) and are close to winning the title.

If PSG win this season, they will extend their all-time Ligue 3 title record to 2 with two consecutive wins following last season.

Mbappe is the leading scorer in the league with 75 goals.
