The ninth stage, Savignano sul Rubicone-Cesena, a 35-kilometer time trial, is Remco Eevenepoel who, with an exceptional time, also conquers the pink jersey.

The Belgian rider of Soudal-Quick Step respected the predictions by winning the race with a time of 41'24", at an average of 50.705 km/h, ahead of the British pair of Ineos Grenadiers respectively by 1" and 2" with Geraint Thomas and Tao Geoghegan Hart to complete the podium of the day.

As a result of today's result, the world champion in the road races also regains, as already mentioned, the pink jersey at the expense of the Norwegian Andreas Leknessund (Team DSM), who paid a delay of 1'15 '' from the winner.

A time trial for specialists, this ninth stage, partially conditioned by rain, exciting for the tests of the last starters. A time trial in which Italy felt the forced absence of Filippo Ganna, twice world champion of the specialty, who retired yesterday due to Covid.

Tomorrow the pink race will observe its first day of rest. It resumes on Tuesday with the tenth stage, the Scandiano-Viareggio of 196 kilometers.
