Sharjah survives the «trap» Mleiha in the opening of the Hand Cup

The defending champion Sharjah team escaped with difficulty from the trap of his rival Maliha, after he succeeded in overturning a three-goal deficit at the end of the first half, to win (27-24), yesterday, at Al Nasr Hall in the preliminary round of the President's Cup handball competition, a tournament that is considered the conclusion of the current season's competitions.

The preliminary round witnessed Shabab Al Ahli beat Al Jazira (27-21) at Al Ain Hall, Al Ain beat Al Nasr (33-25) in a match hosted by Al Jazira Hall, and Al Wasl achieved the biggest result by defeating Dibba Al Hisn by nine goals and a score of (34-25) in a match held at Maliha Hall.

Sharjah hit a difficult date with Al Ain on the 20th of this month in the first semi-final confrontation, and on the same day Shabab Al Ahli will meet its neighbor Al Wasl in the second matches of the Golden Square. Mleiha took the lead in the first half (12-9), but Sharjah came back and equalized three minutes before the end of the match (24-24), then won (27-24).

In turn, Shabab Al Ahli won in the first half against Al Jazira (15-11), then widened the difference in the second, and settled the match in their favor (27-21), as well as Al Ain, who won the first against Al Nasr (17-12), before winning the match (33-25). Al Wasl took a comfortable lead in the first half over Dibba Al Hisn (18-12), then extended the lead in the second and won (34-25).

Sharjah meets in the Golden Square Al Ain, while Shabab Al Ahli faces Al Wasl.
