England's football record champion Manchester United has presented in the race for the Champions League places. Team manager Erik ten Hag's team won 2-0 (1-0) against Wolverhampton Wanderers and won again after two defeats. Manchester remain fourth in the table, now four points ahead of Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool FC, who can shorten again on Monday evening (21.00 CET/Sky) at Leicester City.
Chelsea FC made another mistake. The Londoners, who are playing a disastrous season and will miss out on international business, only drew 2-2 (0-1) against relegation candidate Nottingham Forest. Kai Havertz initially sat on the bench at Chelsea and was substituted late. Former Bundesliga striker Taiwo Awoniyi (13th/62nd) scored twice for Forest, while Raheem Sterling (51st/58th) also scored twice for Chelsea.
The first to be relegated is Southampton FC, who lost 0-2 (0-0) to Fulham FC and can no longer make up the deficit with two games still open. Tottenham Hotspur lost 1:2 (0:1) in the chasing duel at Aston Villa despite a strong final spurt. Harry Kane (90th, penalty) brought Spurs closer, another goal by former Bundesliga professional Heung-Min Son (90th+7) did not count.
For Manchester, Anthony Martial (32') and Alejandro Garnacho (90'+5) scored decisively. The team drew level on points with Newcastle United, who had previously only drawn 2-2 (1-1) at Leeds United, but are still in favour of Manchester thanks to the better goal difference.
