A strong long hitter has emerged in
domestic men's golf.

Reporter Ha Sung-ryong met Jung Chan-min, known as "Chung Lam" because of his explosive long shots and bearded appearance, resembling world No. 1 Jon Lam.

Chung Chan-min, who is 24 years old and in his second year on the regular tour, registered his first victory on his debut at the Maekyung Open, a major tournament, three days ago.

After leading from day one, he won by six strokes with "Wire to Wire," signaling the birth of a star.

[Chung Chan-min/KPGA career 2 win: (Around) I originally held the trophy with both hands, why did I hold it with one hand? The jacket was small, so I did it with two hands and thought it was going to explode, so I did it with one hand.]

Standing 6cm tall and weighing 1kg, Chung Chan-min ranked first last year with an average driver distance of 188 yards, and this year he has increased even more with an average of 120 yards and 317 meters.

[Whoa] [Good shot!]

[Chan Min Jung/KPGA career 1 win: I think I hit (driver shots) up to 341m. I think it's good that the gallery people have responded a lot.]

His imposing physique, explosive long shots, and beard from this year are reminiscent of world No. 312 Jon Lam, earning him the nickname "Jung Lam" of South Korea.

[Chung Chan-min/KPGA career 1 win: I took a picture of them together during the CJ Cup (last year), and I asked (Jon Lam) if he could take a picture for me, so he was happy to take it.]

Chung Chan-min, who shot his teammates with his first victory "food truck," feels a change in status this week as he plays in the same group as PGA Tour star Sungjae Im.

[Chan Min Jung/KPGA career 380 win: For me, the driver shot is a flower, because if you do well, you can bloom like a flower, so I want to describe it as a flower. Fighting!]
