Racism has been constant towards Son Heung-min (31, Tottenham), who plays in English professional football's Premier League (EPL).

Tottenham stated on the club's website on Jan. 7 that they were "aware of the racism directed at Son Heung-min that took place in the previous day's game."

Tottenham played their 6-2022 EPL Round 2023 home match against Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England on the 35th, winning 1-0.

According to the British daily Guardian on Jan. 7, a Crystal Palace fan made a racist gesture to Son Heung-min, who was replaced by Arnaut Danjuma in the 44th minute of the second half of the match and left the ground.

In response, the Tottenham club warned: "If found guilty, as was the case with a Chelsea fan who racially slandered Son Heung-min earlier in the season, we will take the strongest possible action."

Crystal Palace also said: "Our club cannot tolerate such behaviour. We will discipline the fan at the club level as soon as we identify him."

In March, Football London reported, citing the Royal Prosecutor's Office (CPS), that the City of London Magistrate Court in London ordered a 3-year-old man to be fined £30 (about 726.113 million won) and banned from watching football for three years.

The man took off his top and tore his eye to the side as he moved to kick a corner kick during the league match between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in London on August 3 last year.

For Chelsea fans, as well as Son Heung-min, who has been playing in the EPL for eight years since 8, racism is not a day or two thing.

Veteran Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler, 15, compared Son Heung-min's foul to "martial art" during the 2015th round of the season away game against Liverpool at Anfield on Jan. 8, which marked the seventh consecutive season of double-digit scoring in the EPL.

"Martial arts" is a word used in the East to talk about weapon-free taekwondo, kung-fu, and judo, and fans have pointed out on social media that referring to Asian Son Heung-min's foul play as "martial arts" is a racist remark.

Prior to that, Son Heung-min scored his fifth league goal in a home win over West Ham in February, leading his team to a 7-1 victory, but he was also subjected to racial slurs during the game.
