His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, said that the sports sector in Dubai is witnessing continuous multifaceted growth, especially in the field of hosting and organizing international sports events and tournaments, and training camps for international teams in various games, thanks to the emirate's strong infrastructure, sports, tourism and service facilities and world-class stadiums, in addition to the attractive environment that contributed to its formation of a flexible and developed legislative and regulatory system, and many other advantages. which is unique to Dubai, enhancing opportunities for investors and organizers of major sporting events.

His Highness made the remarks during his chairmanship of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Sports Council at the Council's headquarters, where he stressed that the Dubai Sports Council continues to work with various partners in the country, as well as with international sports federations and international organizers, to promote and support the growth of the sports events sector, and increase the number of organizers and workers in this important sector, in a way that contributes to spreading the practice of sports and providing various sports events that meet the needs of community members who aspire to practice sports, and follow their international stars in various and strongest international tournaments.

His Highness also congratulated His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council and Chairman of Shabab Al Ahli Club, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council and Chairman of Shabab Al Ahli Club, members of the club's board of directors and the football company, and the club's employees and fans on the occasion of winning the ADNOC Professional Football League title, and winning the eighth title in the history of the tournament.

His Highness stressed that the growth witnessed by the sports sector in Dubai and its increase in its contribution to the GDP is in line with the strategic plan for the sports sector in Dubai, and the efforts made by the Council in terms of developing national cadres, raising the level of performance, and achieving the best results at the level of all national, continental and international competitions, in accordance with the vision of the wise leadership and its keenness to enhance the status of sports and develop our athletes and national cadres in all fields, in order to enhance Dubai's position as an ideal destination to host the most prominent international sports tournaments and events in Various games, while harnessing all the means and ingredients to make them successful.

The meeting witnessed the adoption of the allocation of an award for school health within the categories of the "Hamdan bin Mohammed Medal for Sports Educational Schools", provided that the competition for the award is open to all public and private schools in the Emirate of Dubai, which number up to 300 schools.

Four axes were adopted to evaluate the award with its performance indicators, namely: the number of programs, initiatives, workshops and campaigns held for sports and health, the prevention of modern diseases (pressure, obesity, diabetes, mental illness), the method of proper nutrition through school canteens and their effectiveness in reducing obesity, the multiplicity of health programs, the involvement of the family and the community in supporting programs, and the number of health partnerships related to reducing obesity.

Investment Projects

His Highness the Chairman of Dubai Sports Council and the members were briefed on the details of the investment projects of a number of clubs, to benefit from the areas owned by the clubs, in order to contribute to the development of the clubs' facilities in the best possible way, and to achieve resources that support the work of the clubs and their development prospects. His Highness stressed the importance of the role of investment in the work of clubs, and the importance of investing resources and assets to achieve a great addition to Dubai clubs in terms of developing headquarters, facilities and stadiums and increasing their self-financial returns that support their work and achieve their development plans and programs.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council Mattar Al Tayer, and members of the Council: Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Maryam Al Hammadi, Hala Badri, Sami Al Qamzi, Moza Al Marri, Jamal Hamed Al Marri, Secretary General of the Council Saeed Hareb, and Assistant Secretary General Nasser Aman Al Rahma, where many topics were reviewed, foremost of which are the upcoming international sporting events that Dubai continues to launch and present to the world or organize, in cooperation with international organizers and international sports federations.

Approving the formation of the Women and Sports Committee

The formation of the Women and Sports Committee was approved under the chairmanship of Hala Youssef Badri, Fawzia Mohammed Faridoun, Vice-Chairman, and the membership of: Iman Mohammed Murad, Fatima Belhoul Al Falasi, Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, Latifa Abdullah Al Shamsi, Diala Ali Damascus, Amal Majed Al Muhairi, and Alia Mohammed Al Safi, Rapporteur of the Committee, as well as reviewing a number of other topics on the agenda and taking appropriate decisions on them.

Hosting major tournaments

Dubai will witness many international tournaments in the coming period, most notably: the World Wheelchair Basketball Championship next June, as well as the launch of the World Padel League, with the participation of elite world stars in this sport, which will be held at the Coca-Cola Arena next June.

Dubai will also host the World Chess League, as well as the 2023 Beach Soccer World Cup.

The first edition of the Emirates Sports Medicine Conference will be organized in May, with the participation of more than 600 doctors and specialists.

Honoring the elite pioneers of sports work

During the meeting, the attendees were briefed on the performance of club teams and football companies in Dubai during the current sports season and the results achieved, as well as preparations for organizing the "Dubai Model for Sports Excellence" ceremony, in which a group of pioneers of sports work in Dubai are honored, in recognition of their efforts, giving and imprints they left in the march of sports work in Dubai and the UAE, as well as the winners, according to the following categories:

Institutional awards: Best Sports Club, Best Football Company, Best Quality Club.

Specialized Awards: Best Club/Company in Institutional Efficiency, Best Club/Company in Financial Efficiency, Best Sports Investment Initiative, and Best Academy in Gifted Sponsorship.

Medals of Excellence: Best Junior Football Player, Best Junior Individual Player, Best Junior Player in Team Games, and Best Junior Player of Determination.
