The dream of winning the title is alive: Borussia Dortmund remains hot on the heels of leaders Bayern Munich in the thrilling championship race thanks to an impressive home strength and the biggest win of the season. Coach Edin Terzic's furious team defeated the helpless VfL Wolfsburg 6-0 (3-0) and are still only one point behind the German record champions after their tenth home win in a row.

Goals from Karim Adeyemi (14'), Sebastien Haller (28') and Donyell Malen (37') made the South Stand shake in the first half and testified to BVB's nerves. Jude Bellingham (54th/86th) and Adeyemi (59th), who shot a foul penalty over the goal in the 64th minute, added to their tally after the break. The last time the Black and Yellows had won higher was in September 2018 with a 7-0 win against 1. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, have been waiting for a win in Dortmund for eleven years and missed out on a secure European Cup place.

In front of 81,365 spectators, the runners-up were unimpressed by Bayern's victory in Bremen. The hosts pushed Wolfsburg deep into the defensive from the start and earned their fourth corner kick in the tenth minute. A short time later, the powerful initial phase was rewarded. Germany international Adeyemi headed in a deflected cross from Julian Ryerson. BVB also scored in their 49th league home game in a row – impressive.

The game might have taken a different turn if Patrick Wimmer had taken his big chance to equalise. However, the striker failed to clear BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, Mats Hummels deflected Jakub Kaminski's follow-up shot over the goal (20th). After this moment of shock, BVB continued their attacking run. Again and again, Dortmund found its way behind the defensive chain of Lower Saxony. After Hummels won the ball against Jonas Wind, Adeyemi served striker Haller in an exemplary manner in the centre – 2-0.

Bellingham's ball comes back

The guests increasingly lost order. After a long pass from Marius Wolf, Julian Brandt kept track of the game in front of goalkeeper Koen Casteels and laid across the tracks. The Dutchman pushed the ball into the empty goal and turned away in celebration.

Wolves coach Niko Kovac had seen enough and made two changes at half-time. Kilian Fischer and Kevin Paredes replaced the weak Ridle Baku and Josuha Guilavogui.

This measure did not change the course of the game. The playful Dortmund kept the pace enormously high and overwhelmed the overwhelmed opponent. Brandt (49') and Niklas Süle (50') still missed, then Bellingham, courted by Real Madrid, increased. Casteels initially deflected the Englishman's violent shot to the crossbar, but from there the ball jumped into the goal.

But even with that, Dortmund's hunger for goals was not satisfied. After Sebastiaan Bornauw lost the ball in his own penalty area, Haller saw the better-positioned Adeyemi, who effortlessly scored his second goal. He missed the third after a foul by Fischer on Bellingham from the penalty spot. Nevertheless, the fans celebrated him with chants when he was substituted.
