Adyar clinches Gordon Richards Stakes title and secures his seat at Royal Ascot

Godolphin star Adyar inaugurated his return to racing optimally by snatching a deserved victory on Sunday with the title of the Jordan Richards Stakes for Group 3 horses, which took place today in the opening half of the final day at the English Guineas Festival held since last Thursday at the British ancient Newmarket racecourse.

The victory at Newmarket came as part of Adyar's preparations to compete for the Prince of Wales Stakes for the world's top-ranked G1 at the prestigious British Royal Ascot Festival next month.

Under the supervision of trainer Charlie Appleby, Adyar confirmed his readiness to return to the circle of victories, after finishing second last October in his last participation in the Champion Stakes for Group One horses.

Adyar, a descendant of Frankel, ridden by William Buick, showed a high ability during the early stages to maintain his abilities and stay close to the front horses, before unleashing his energy in the final 300m, overtaking his rivals to the lead and cutting the finish line of the 2400m turf course that extended the run in first place, with a time of two minutes, five seconds and 37 hundredths of a second, 2.5 lengths ahead of second-placed Patterns with the logo of Shadwell and trained by Owen Borras. He was ridden by Jim Crowley, with Godolphin's second representative, Highland Avenue trained by Appleby and ridden by James Doyle in third.
