The UAE athletics team delegation returns with 7 colorful medals from the West Asian Championship

The delegation of the UAE athletics team returned through Sharjah International Airport after participating in the West Asian Athletics Championships (Qatar 2023) and winning 7 colorful medals.

Hassan Al Nuaimi, a player of the UAE national team and Sharjah Sports Club in athletics, presented his gold medal in the 5km walking competitions to the UAE, and the high jump star Salem Al Balushi succeeded in winning two medals in the silver in the long jump and bronze in the triple jump.

The athletics team participated with 13 male and female athletes in the championship, which was attended by 12 countries and more than 260 male and female athletes and was hosted by the Qatari capital Doha from April 26 to 29 for the men's and women's categories.

The team included 4 players from Sharjah Sports Club who succeeded in leading it to climb to the podiums.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, said that the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, make us double our work to achieve his vision of raising the UAE flag with the hands of his sons, pointing out that the presence of Sharjah players in the various individual sports teams is the result of the unlimited support of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.

For his part, Eng. Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajri, Board Member and Head of Individual Games Department at Sharjah Club, confirmed that the club has set the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in mind and is working to achieve them by seeing the UAE flag raised in all participations.

He pointed out that participating in the name of the national team is the greatest honor for any player and athlete to represent the country, praising the great work made by the Athletics Federation, which made a great qualitative leap in the game.
