Eintracht Frankfurt extended their negative streak to nine winless Bundesliga games with a 1-1 draw (1-0) against FC Augsburg. The chance of another entry into a European Cup competition has thus been further minimized. After the lead for the Hessians through an own goal by Elvis Rexhbecaj (25th minute), Ermedin Demirovic (58th) was able to equalize with a goal worth seeing in front of 50,000 spectators. For Eintracht, it was another setback ahead of the semi-final match in the DFB Cup match at VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday.

The long dry spell since mid-February, when the last win against Werder Bremen (2-0) was achieved, has left its mark and uncertainty on Frankfurt. The Europa League winners' build-up to the game was once again arduous and tough - and combinations worth seeing were in short supply. In addition, Eintracht had to cope with the absence of midfield endurance runner Djibril Sow, who was unable to play shortly before kick-off due to feeling unwell.

The Hessians were lucky in the 25th minute when Elvis Rexhbecaj deflected a shot from Buta past the powerless goalkeeper Tomás Koubek. Ten minutes later, Ansgar Knauff almost scored the second goal. After outsmarting Augsburg's Mads Petersen, he shot the ball just past the left post.

Even the visitors, who were fighting against relegation and harmless for a long time and took only two points from the previous ten away games, had almost nothing to offer in attack. However, shortly before the half-time whistle, they suddenly had another great chance: Ermedin Demirovic served his strike partner Dion Beljo with a strong pass, who hesitated too long and whose shot from the edge of the penalty area was blocked by Eintracht defender Tuta at the last second.

After the change of sides, the hitherto harmless guests made more steam. In the 48th minute, Demirovic challenged national goalkeeper Kevin Trapp with a twist shot, who was able to deflect to the corner with his fingertips. Ten minutes later, Trapp was powerless against the 25-year-old attacker, who volleyed the ball into the Frankfurt box on a cross from Ruben Vargas. A hit brand "Goal of the Month".

In the closing stages, Frankfurt attacker Jesper Lindström, who suffered an ankle injury in training at the beginning of March and has been out since then, made a mini-comeback. However, the Dane was no longer able to turn things around.
