Manchester City deal a knockout blow to the Premier League leaders

Manchester City effortlessly beat leaders Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium and took an important step towards retaining the Premier League title on Wednesday.

City imposed their superiority in a one-sided match over Arsenal and Kevin De Bruyne scored two goals and John Stones added a goal and Erling Haaland concluded the festival of goals, to keep Arsenal without a win for the fourth game in a row and become close to losing the lead.
Rob Holding scored Arsenal's goal with a powerful shot in the 86th minute.
Arsenal are frozen on 75 points from 33 games, and are just two points ahead of second-placed City, who have played just 31 games.
De Bruyne took the lead with an early goal for City seven minutes later after receiving Haaland's pass, penetrated towards goal and fired a volley into the net.
Stones added the second goal with a header before the break, and confirmed the goal after returning to VAR.
De Bruyne sealed the victory nine minutes into the second half, similar to the first goal, receiving Haaland's pass and firing a ground ball past goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
City, who face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, could have scored more had it not been for missing more than one dangerous chance from Haaland.
But after City stepped back to rest their players in the hope of completing their dream of winning a treble of titles this season, Holding scored with a powerful shot and following Leandro Trossar's pass from the right.
In stoppage time, Haaland made his mark and scored the fourth goal with a close-range shot.
