"As a team, we understand your frustration, your anger. It wasn't good enough. We know words are not enough in situations like this, but believe us, a defeat like this hurts. We appreciate your support, both home and away, and with that in mind, we would like to reimburse fans for the cost of their St James'Park match tickets. We know it doesn't change what happened on Sunday and we will give everything to fix things against Manchester United on Thursday night when, again, your support means everything to us. Together and only together we can make a difference. »

Tottenham occupies the 5th and last place in Europe, six lengths behind the Red Devils and the last qualifying place for the Champions League.
