The Sports Creativity Award communicates with institutions before the closing of the nomination door

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, one of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, is in contact with sports institutions in the UAE, the Arab world and the world to invite them to nominate and introduce them to the axis of institutional competition for the 12th session and the approved period for achievements eligible to compete for the award categories as the closing date for nominations approaches on August 31.

The Board of Trustees of the Award said in a press release yesterday that among the bodies that are invited to participate are international sports organizations, foremost of which is the International Olympic Committee, which includes 204 National Olympic Committees and 178 Paralympic Committees, the Federation of International Olympic Sports Federations "ASWAF", 33 international sports federations for summer Olympic sports, seven international sports federations for winter Olympic sports, 69 Arab National Olympic Federations and 34 international federations recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

He added that these entities will be invited to compete for the institutional category through their initiatives and programs to develop sports at the global level or humanitarian sports initiatives that contribute to empowering communities through sports, while athletes from players, coaches, administrators, referees, club teams and teams from the country and the Arab world compete to win individual and collective awards.

The Award's Board of Trustees, chaired by Mattar Al Tayer, announced the opening of nominations for the 12th session in early April 2022 and will continue until August 31, to complete the submission of files achieved during the qualifying achievements period to compete for its categories, starting from September 16, 2021 until August 31, 2023, provided that the winners will be honored during January 2024.

The statement issued by the Award's Board of Trustees confirmed that 2597,11 files applied for nomination during the past 748 sessions, including 1621 from the UAE, 228,<> from Arab countries and <> at the global level.

The number of winners and honorees reached 258 innovators, including 188 at the individual level, 21 at the collective level and 49 at the institutional level, and according to geographical distribution, 124 of the winners and honorees were from the UAE, 116 from Arab countries and 18 at the global level.

The number of candidates for the 11th edition alone reached 409 male and female athletes, who collectively achieved 300 sports achievements, 29 sports innovations, 26 sports scientific productions, and 54 sports projects, initiatives and programs.

• 204 National Olympic Committees and 178 Paralympic Committees have been invited to the Award.

• 2597 files applied for candidacy during the past 11 sessions.

Award Categories

- Individual Sports Creativity Category: for individual players, coaches, administrators and referees at the local, Arab and international levels.

- Collective Sports Creativity category: for teams that have achieved sports innovations at the local, Arab and international levels.

- Institutional Creativity Category: For sports institutions and federations that have achieved sports innovations at the local, Arab and international levels.

AED 7.5M in prize money

The Board of Trustees confirmed that the award maintained the value of the financial prizes distributed in each session, the 12th session, as the financial value of the award is AED 7.5 million, more than two million US dollars.

Maintaining the value of the awards comes in order to support the athletes and continue to encourage and honor them with the largest awards ever in the sports awards in the world, and the competitive categories in the award have been maintained in addition to the special recognition categories.

No change in the mechanism of selection of juniors

It was decided that the winners of the junior category will be selected by the mechanism

The same that was followed in previous editions consistently, opened the door for public participation in the voting to choose the winners from the six junior category nominated for the final stage, as the public vote will have 50% of the final result and the jury's decision will have the other 50% of the final result, provided that the public voting period will be on the first of November 2023 until January 2024.

The junior category has witnessed continuous growth since the adoption of this category within the award in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, patron of the award, as the number of candidates reached 123 creative emerging athletes from the UAE, 42 of whom were honored during the seven sessions who shone and achieved achievements in 23 sports, with six honorees for each session, and the number of voters from the public reached more than 269 thousand, including 231 thousand Person in session 11.

Registration and submission of candidacy files

The award announced the continuation of remote nomination through the website and application of the award mbrawards.ae which also allows registration, submission of the nomination file and uploading the required documents for nomination, which makes the nomination process easier and faster according to the nomination mechanisms and clear registration steps.

The decisions and points of each member of the jury will be collected and calculated within a program designed by the award teams to ensure integrity, transparency and complete impartiality in arbitration and has been successfully applied since the 10th session of the award.
