Former Emirati Whites player and current Hatta captain Rashid Issa described the goal he scored with the Olympic team against Britain in the London 2012 Olympics as his best memories that coincide with the holy month of Ramadan, although the result of the match ended in favor of the hosts 3-1, pointing out that that goal was of great importance, especially as it came in the great Olympic forum and against one of the strongest international teams.
Rashid Issa told Emirates Today: "I played a large number of matches in the month of Ramadan with teams or clubs, each of which has its beautiful memories, but that goal remains another form, especially since the time of its registration coincided with the breakfast cannon UAE time."
Emirates Today met with Rashid Issa and interviewed him:
■■ What are your best memories of Ramadan?
■ I have memories that I cherish that happened recently and others in years past, including my goal in the Olympic against Britain and the days we lived in Britain during the Olympics, which on that day we were unable to fast for 13 days spent after returning to the country because we were on semi-permanent travel moving between British cities, so it was not possible for us to fast.
■■ What modern memory do you cherish happened in the holy month of Ramadan?
■ The success of the Hatta team in confirming its lead in the first division league in the current season and its approach to ascending to play in the next season of the ADNOC Professional League The "Hurricane" also succeeded in scoring four victories during the holy month under the leadership of coach Dr. Abdullah Mesfer, who we consider more than a coach, but rather a mentor and friend to all.
■■ What are the main difficulties you face?
■ The month of Ramadan is a month of blessing, livelihood and goodness, and the difficulties are not due to fasting, but fatigue resulting from changing the training time, strong competitions, and lack of nutrition on the day of the match, which is normal in conjunction with fasting, in addition to the lack of adequate sleep and diet, which changes by a month compared to the rest of the months of the year, which makes us lose complete rest that the medical and physical systems compensate for a number of usual procedures.
■■ What is the hardest thing for you in the holy month of Ramadan mathematically?
■ Coordinating food for breakfast on match day or suhoor meal that follows is the most difficult for me, as frankly on match day I cannot eat enough, as I do not eat normally at breakfast when a match awaits me and after it, and from the severity of fatigue, it is not easy to eat, so I eat suhoor in a simple way, so I have to compensate the next day and this is a foregone conclusion and it does not concern me alone, but most of the players, and I think that training on the diet accompanying a month Ramadan Mubarak is not difficult and following the example of the player Ismail Matar leads to success in that.
■■ How do you spend your time in Ramadan and what are your favorite foods in Ramadan?
■ Stay with family, loved ones and friends in the holy month of Ramadan more than the rest of the months of the year, which is an addition to the social dimension, so the days of the month of Ramadan are for me and everyone one of the happiest days with a time when family meets with each other and friends and I always aspire to get this opportunity and regarding the food that I like to eat, it is threaded with meat, although it contains many oils, but it is quickly burned by exercise, which is enough for that, but the thread is not the day of the match But on other days.
Rashid Issa:
• Meat threads are my favorite food but I don't eat them on match day.
• Happy to confirm Hatta's lead in the current season's league in Ramadan.
• Abdullah Mesfer is more than a trainer. We consider him a mentor and friend to everyone.
